The new Extratti Distratti exhibition opens on Wednesday 22 December at 6.00 pm. Exhibition of the Laboratory of Expressive Activities, in the Zero room of the museum. The Laboratory of Expressive Activities is an initiative created by the Pecci Center in collaboration with the Adult Mental Health Service of the USL - Toscana Centro as an activity dedicated to users of the psychiatric service, aimed at expanding the possibilities of expression and communication outside the traditional psychiatric areas, to promote social inclusion. Each participant actively contributed to the creation of the exhibition, from the selection of the works to the setting up of the spaces, up to the drafting of the autobiographical text.
The title Extracts Distracted was chosen by the authors present in the exhibition with the aim of returning the artistic process that characterised the production of the exhibited works, a set of works created in recent years during the activities of the Expressive Activities Laboratory. The exhibition begins with the research on shapes, colors and shades related to flowers made by Marco Baldi, continuing in the magical atmospheres of Elisabetta Carleo's portraits and landscapes. From the strokes of Irene Tortelli's ballpoint pen that propose new interpretations of famous works of art, we arrive at the essentiality and delicacy of Francesco Ciulliniwho is inspired by the images of art monographs. Patrizia Mazzantini, in the series of pencil portraits I Murati vivi, tells us about the daily life of the subjects during the period of isolation linked to the pandemic while Giulio Farruggio, through pencil and watercolor, presents us landscapes and glimpses of nature often linked to memories of lived experiences.
With the work Abbraccio Davide Apostolico he “immerses” the visitor in color, making a red figure appear from the background that seems to move towards those present. Roberto Franchini, on the other hand, with pencils, markers and watercolors, shows moments of the life of cartoon characters and comics, putting them in relation to each other and creating new stories that he collects in Artist's Books. The activities of the Laboratory are coordinated by the Education Department of the Pecci Center with the Mental Health Service and conducted by Art Therapists in collaboration with the Keras cooperative.
Distracted extracts can be visited free of charge until January 9, 2022.
Reduced ticket to all the museum exhibitions for those who will visit the exhibition during the inauguration.
