Joining the celebrated design fair Salon Art + Design for the first time this year, Galerie Philia is delighted to present Gravity and Grace, a curated presentation of sculptural works by eight established designers and design studios from seven countries. Commissioned specially for the occasion, the brand-new pieces, are all made of onyx and are produced in limited editions of eight.
Curated by Ygaël Attali, Founder of Galerie Philia, the exhibition was inspired by the book 'Gravity and Grace' by French philosopher Simone Weil and her famous quote: "Beauty is the harmony of chance and the good". The concept of the exhibition explores the theme of beauty with pieces oscillating between chance and good, between organic matter and geometric form. Among the highlights are an onyx stool by Australian designer Henry Wilson, floor lamps by Ukrainian design practice Victoria Yakusha, a three-blocks coffee table by Italian designer Pietro Franceschini, a console and a double mirror by Mexican designer Andres Monnier, a gueridon by Belgian designer Pierre de Valck, a console by Italian design duo Studiopepe and onyx monoliths by Indian design studio Paul Matter. A sumptuous suspension by Italian artist Morghen Studio will complete the presentation.
